How to search for spoken words in your saved videos

You remember a phrase from a lesson or interview, but not the file name. Search the words in your VideoScript library to find the recording again.

What can you search?

VideoScript searches the titles, transcripts, summaries and categories saved in its own library. It does not search the audio of every video in Photos automatically. Import and transcribe a video first to make its spoken words searchable.

You do not need an AI summary to search a saved transcript. Full app access requires a subscription.

Find the right clip

  1. Open Search

Tap the Search tab and enter a distinctive word or a short phrase you remember. For example, try first from an interview, or a specific topic mentioned in a lesson.

  2. Read the matching excerpts

Results can match a title, transcript, summary or category. Read the excerpt to see why a video appeared. Start with a few distinctive words rather than trying to remember an entire sentence exactly.

  3. Narrow the results

Tap Filters to choose a Recording date, Category or Processing status. Combine filters when you know roughly when a video was recorded or what it was about.

  4. Open a result

Tap the video. Matching transcript words are highlighted in the detail view, and the transcript search controls let you move between matches. You can also use the magnifying-glass control beside Transcript to search within that video.

Does a match jump to that moment in playback?

Transcript search highlights saved text. It does not currently synchronize that highlight with the playing audio or promise a jump to a precise spoken timestamp. Open playback to check the recording, or copy the transcript for reference.

If there are no results

  • Try a shorter or different word. Recognition may have spelled a name differently.
  • Use Clear all to remove the current query and filters, then search again.
  • Check the recording date: it may differ from the date you imported the video.
  • Open the video from Home to check whether a transcript was saved. A failed or unfinished transcription cannot supply words that were never recognized.

If processing needs to be retried, follow the explanation in the video’s detail view or see processing help.
